BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE

          Government College, Kasaragod, one of the reputed institutions in the northern most district of Kerala has nourished thousands of students during the past five decades. This pioneer institution in the govt sector in this socially and educationally backward area caters to their needs in higher education. The college, at present, has 12 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate courses. The departments of Chemistry, Geology, Kannada and Statistics have been recognized as Research Departments by Kannur University. Students educated in this institution are spread all over the world, and occupy covetable positions in the various fields of administration, education, politics, social service, banking sector, managerial posts and in various other walks of life. The college has always stood fo rteh noble values of truth, discipline and fraternity, and strives to spread the ideal of national integration in this area where people hail from different cultural, social and economic background.

          The college is affiliated to Kannur University and has been recognized by the UGC under section 12b and 2f. The college has a campus of 42 acres and adequate built in area for its academic and related activities. During the last 25 years the college has expanded infrastructural facilities that in child Science blocks, PG blocks and men’s hostel. A special mention may be made about the generous gesture by an old student of the college who provided the furniture in the auditorium. There is a botanical garden having a good number of medicinal plants. The green lawns, garden and other plants mainlined here have enhanced the beauty of the campus.
