Vice-Chancellor addressing
the public meeting
“Hermann Hesse International Festival” was celebrated in Calw, Germany in a big way from June 30 to July 6 this year. Dr. P.K. Rajan, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. C.P. Sivadasan, Dean of the Faculty of Languages participated in the Indian team that joined the celebrations. Along with Shri. G. Karthikeyan, Minister for Culture, the Vice-Chancellor addressed the public meeting held in Calw on 2nd July on “Hermann Gundert and Thalassery”.
Later at a seminar organized on 4th July, Dr. Rajan Soke on “Kannur University” and Dr. Sivadasan on Heritage of Thalassery”. The Indian delegation also paid homage to the memory of Gundert at a solemn ceremony held at the cemetery where the great scholar lies buried.
On an invitation from Frankfurt University the Vice-Chancellor made a visit to the Department of English there and gave a talk on “Indian Literary Criticism in English” on 3rd July.
