With Jobs
In Hand And Dreams In Head
This
is the time of the year when graduating students in Indian
Business schools face the pleasant challenge of having
to choose a job from the many that are on offer, when
they are filled with a great sense of having arrived ,
having achieved .
While
the prestigious MBA certainly provides the initial passport
to the world of business, it is just that and no more.
One is ones own in the rats race for business success
and personal progress. The corner office on the top floor
seems so near and yet so far for the majority. But in
all this euphoria, let us spare a thought for the not
so fortunate. Each business school has its share of students
who have qualified but not been found good enough for
immediate placements , in the world of flashy presentations,
controlled aggression and of course high academic grades
and ratings . The fact that such students also have gone
through the learning process is often forgotten or glossed
over. It is indeed hard to be losers among the winners.
Students
should take comfort in the fact that worldwide, placements
after business school are not a cakewalk. It is not the
end of the world if one is not placed during the campus
sessions and has to wait for an appropriate opportunity.
Certainly not all great business leaders in the world
were toppers in their class!
Having
said that it is also a time for
empathy and support for such graduates. And also a time
for reflection for the recruiters who must ask themselves,
must everything be gold to glitter!
The
Department of Management Studies, Kannur University had
mixed experience with respect to placements from its first
batch which passed out last year. We have grown to strength
overcoming our weaknesses. The need to be geared up for
tomorrow is more than ever before. The need to be a step
ahead and a step faster and surer.
I
present to you a batch of enterprising leader, who are
raring to make a mark in the social and business landscape
of the country over the next half a century. On behalf
of the institute, I take pleasure in inviting you to participate
in the placement process at the Department of Management
Studies, Kannur University.
