National Seminar on ‘Approaches in behaviour management- perspectives and applications’

Date: 5th to 7th March 2018

In a world where behavioural issues are prominent, it is necessary to acquire skills to manage behaviour. This seminar was aimed to broaden the scientific knowledge about management to give a better understanding of concepts and strategies for managing behaviour in various settings and to provide hands on training on various aspects of behaviour management thereby enhancing the clinical skills of participants. This national seminar on “Approaches in behaviour management- perspectives and applications” (NSABM 2018) was organized by School of Behavioural sciences, Kannur University, Mangattuparamba, from 5th to 7th March 2018.

The seminar commenced with the theme presentation by Dr.S.Vinod Kumar, Head of the Department, School of Behavioural Sciences, Kannur University, followed by presidential address by , Dr. Balachandran Keezhoth (Registrar, Kannur University). The inaugural address was by Honourable Pro-Vice- Chancellor, Kannur University, Prof.(Dr.).T.Asokan. Prof. K.K. Kunhikrishnan(Former Pro-Vice- Chancellor, Kannur University& Retired Professor in Psychology), and Mr.Vidhusekhar P. (Assistant Director, Centre for Management Studies, Kannur University).

Followed by the opening session, Prof.K Kunhikrishnan was honoured by the chief guests and School of Behavioural Sciences presented a tribute to him as a video story depicting his personal and professional life.

Sessions related to behaviour management and applications were handled by experts in the field on the themes of skill development in psychological training, hypnosis and hypnotherapy, transactional analysis, behaviour modification, building human behaviour through psychological balance, cognitive behaviour therapy with children and adolescents, EMDR, and role of assessment in behaviour management. Paper presentations were also part of the seminar.
