SUMMARY

  • The demonetization move could change the face of the Indian economy and investments. The aim behind the government’s action was to combat tax cheating, counterfeiting and corruption. Therefore this move will definitely have great impact on the investment decisions of individuals, households corporate etc. Therefore this is the right time to study about this topic.

The term investment decision is depending upon various factors like risk, return, liquidity, tax benefits etc. There are various alternatives available for investment like gold, real estate, shares and other securities offered by various institutions, National Saving Certificates, Public Provident Fund,, Employees Pension Schemes, Post office savings etc. There are different stages involved in the investment management process like identification of alternatives, evaluation of alternatives, and selection of alternatives, implementation and maintenance of portfolio.

As far as college teachers are concerned the implementation of 6th pay commission and the proposal in the 7th pay commission has increased the amount of disposable income. This excess income should be routed through a specific investment mode, for a strong fundamental economic platform for the state and the nation. The great demographic division in the salaried classes opt diverse investment methods depending on the risk tolerance. Therefore study on the topic investment behavior will gives various benefits both to the teachers as well as public by way of developing economy through productive investments.
