E K Nayanar Chair For Parliamentary Affairs-Inaugural Programmes

E K Nayanar Chair for Parliamentary Affairs was constituted in 2008, under the Department of History, with a corpus fund of Rs. 8 lakhs, sponsored by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Kerala in honour of E K Nayanar, former Chief Minister of Kerala and noted Marxist thinker. It was formed to promote research in areas related to parliamentary democracy and democratic practice. The Chair aims at providing opportunities for young scholars to gain proficiency in parliamentary system. Workshops, extension lectures, regional/national seminars etc. are conducted regularly under the chair. The Chair was inaugurated on 8th December 2009 by Sri.K. Radhakrishnan (Honorable Speaker, Kerala). The function was presided by Prof.Michael Tharakan, Vice Chancellor of Kannur University and the Chief guest of the day was Smt.Sarada Teacher, wife of E K Nayanar. A photo Exhibition of Sri. E.K. Nayanar was also organized.
