The M.Phil Programme in Kannada will be a fulltime Programme of one year durationwith two Semesters of six months each. Each Semester shall have 450 contact hoursdistributed over a period of 15 weeks. A Masters Degree from Kannur University or from anyother University recognized byKannur University as equivalent thereto, with not less than 55%marks in the qualifying degree examination.However, for those belonging to SC/ST categories ,a pass in the qualifying degree examination would suffice, for applying to the Programme andthere will be a relaxation of 5% in marks for the teachers of the affiliated colleges.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

The Programme shall consist of two Core courses , One Specialization , Dissertationand Viva-Voce. First Semester Examination will be conducted at the end of the sixth month fromthe commencement of the programme. There will be two core courses( Papers) in the 1stSemester examination. In the second Semester, Area of Specialisation is focussed.Specialisation course is subjected only to Continuous Assessment comprising of fourcomponents carrying equal marks. Dissertation should be submitted at the end of the SecondSemester. Viva - Voce will be conducted on the Dissertation. Both Dissertation and Viva – Vocewould be subjected only to End Semester Assessment.
