Workshop on “D- Space- an Institutional Repository Software” jointly organized by the Dept. of Library and Information Science, Kannur University, Central Library and Chinmaya Institute of Technology Kannur on 7th and 8th January, 2016

Dspace is the software of choice for academic, non profit, and commercial organizations building open digital repositories. It is free and easy to install “ out of the box” and completely customizable to fit the needs of any organization.

The main objectives of the workshop were to provide guidelines for starting an institutional repository, to provide hands on experience in using DSpace Software and to make the participants able to start an institutional repository using DSpace.

Thrust areas covered under the workshop are the following:

1. Introduction to Linux
2. Installation of Ubuntu
3. Introduction to DSpace software
4. D-space installation and configutaion
5. D-space administration and customisation

The resource person of the workshop was Dr. Veerankutty Chelatayakkot, Deputy Librarian, Central Library, Kannur University
