Workshop on Application of Philosophical Concepts in Research

The participants were given exercises in the application of philosophic concepts in literary research and this motivated lively exchange of ideas with a lot of lateral thinking. Dr. K. Harris dwelt elaborately upon the ever changing role of the reader in the face of the emerging new critical and social theories . He tried to anchor all his theoretical expositions on Edward Said, Frank Fanon, Michel Foucault and Homi Bhabha to some select literary works in fiction. The session was followed by a long discussion in the afternoon in which most of the participants cleared their doubts about complex concepts related to power and discourse. The session began at 9.30 and concluded at 4.30 with a linch break from 1pm to 2pm.
