INDUCTION AND ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR FRESHER STUDENTS (2019 ADMISSION) FOCUS 2019

Day 1: Venue: Department of Wood Science & Technology, Mangattuparamba Campus

Dr. C. Mohanan, Course Director, made the Welcome address and a brief introduction and

importance of the induction and orientation programme. Dr. Mohanan highlighted the

uniqueness of the present Industry-linked course run by the Department with the collaborative

support from the Western India Plywood Ltd. He explained the “modus operandi” of the course.

The Resource person, Dr. E. Sreenivasan , Head, Research and Development, and Chief

Technical Manager, Western India Plywood Ltd. handled the Orientation classes. A total of 22

students participated in the session.

Day 2 : Venue: The Western India Plywood Ltd., Lecture Room, Valapattanam,

Mr. Vijaya Raghavan, Executive, Research and Development, Western India Plywood Ltd.

made the welcome address. In the morning session, Dr. E. Sreenivasan delivered an inspiring

lecture on the importance of the course, a brief history of Western India Plywood Ltd.,

contribution of company to Wood Science and Technology and the various job opportunities that

are awaiting the students on the completion of their course

Dr. Sreenivasan briefed syllabus of four Wood Technology Workshops in the various semesters.

Mr. Rafeek ( WIP Ltd. Executive, Quality Control) , Mrs. Fousiya ( WIP Ltd., Chemist) and 

Mr. Majeed ( WIP Ltd. Manager , Log Yard & Wood Peeling) interacted with the students and

gave relevant information related to the operations on the concerned sections and general

guidelines for the students.
