TRAINING PROGRAMME ON COMMUNICATION AND SOFT SKILLS

Organized one-day Training Programme on Communication and Soft Skills for the 2019-21 Batch M.Sc.

Wood Science & Technology students . A total of 24 students participated in the Training

Programme.

Dr. C. Mohanan, Course Director delivered welcome address and introduced the Resource persons. He

has stressed the need of developing skills on writing, comprehension, and speaking. He has mentioned

that creative writing, copywriting, content writing, among others are new avenues and opportunities

awaiting for the new generations. Dr. Mohanan has made a brief introduction of the five important soft

skills, which include: creativity, collaboration, adaptability, persuasion and time management. After the

Welcome speech and Introductory remarks, First Session was handled by Dr. Anil Ramachandran.

Dr. Anil Ramachandran made a brief presentation on moral values which can bring optimism into life

and such constructive changes can make success in the whole life span. He has also presented Life

Experience of famous personalities who have failed and later achieved the life in a big success. Also

narrated the success stories with examples of various personalities from different countries and how

passion with hard work break all barriers for the success. He has motivated the students making success

stories of many well known personalities. He has also made a brief presentation on the importance of

developing communication skills including writing, comprehension and speaking and also the soft skills.

Dr. Sunil Kumar made presentation on Soft skills as well as touched the importance of hard Skills

including Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, robotics and Analytical Reasoning. Dr. Sunil Kumar

narrated the great opportunities in the field of Information Technology and the problem solving capacity

of human and computers. While robots are great at optimizing old ideas, Organizations most need

creative employee who can conceive the solutions of tomorrow. With regard to the Adaptability, an

adaptable mind is an essential tool for navigating today’s ever-changing world, as yesterdays’ solutions

won’t solve tomorrows’ problems
