History

Malabar University was established on March 02, 1996 bringing along with it vast opportunities in higher education for North Malabar (Kannur, Wayanad, Kasaragod). It was in the same year Kannur University teacher education centre, Wayanad started functioning in the building of St. Sebastian Church Thonichal, Mananthavady. The Teacher Education Centre in 2006 was later relocated to serene environment and tribal zone on a land contributed by Edavaka Panchayath at the base of Banasura Mountains.

From its Inception Kannur University teacher Education Centre, Mananthavady has focused on creating socially responsible teachers adaptable to changing times through application of knowledge and wide array of curricular and co curricular activities.
