ANNOUNCEMENTS EXAM PRESS TIME TABLE HRDC CAREERS RECRUITMENT PUBLICATIONS TENDERS ELECTION

Vice Chancellor's Message

Since its founding in 1996, Kannur University has rapidly advanced to become the largest University in northern Kerala. The University has twenty-seven teaching Departments offering programmes of study ranging from Fine Arts to Computational Biology and Nanoscience. Kannur University has 105 colleges affiliated to it and a total student strength of 70790.

The University has adopted the latest pedagogical practices and technology in ensuring quality instruction and assessment. The administration of the University is completely digital and this has exponentially quickened administrative communications, decision making and implementation. The University is fortunate to have a large digital library that is accessible to students and teachers in all the campuses. Similarly advanced laboratories, an instrumentation centre and computational facilities are available for the use of faculty and students.

The University has seven campuses spread across Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts of the state. This multi-campus structure of the University has ensured the wider reach of University education in this region which lags behind the rest of the state in terms of higher education.

Generous support from the State Government in terms of funds for engaging more teachers, freeship for needy students and infrastructural expansion has made it possible for the University to make rapid advances.

The University in the recent past had introduced a set of very new, innovative teaching programmes and emphasised upon interdisciplinary learning while ensuring that disciplinary grounding is not sacrificed at the bachelor degree level. Faculty from other universities in the country and international scholars regularly participate in the scholarly activities and academic bodies of the University.

The tremendous progress made by the University in recent times would not have been possible without the unstinted support of students, teachers and administrative staff who have bravely accepted institutional innovations and reforms.

I am sure that Kannur University with its commitment to promoting critical thinking, democratic functioning and socially inclusiveness will continue to grow very rapidly in the days and years ahead as one of the State’s premier research and teaching universities.
